BOP.BAS.005 Competent authority Regulation (EU) 2018/395 The competent authority shall be the authority designated by the Member State where the operator has its principal place of business or, where the operator has no principal place of business, the place where the operator is established or resides. That authority shall be subject to the requirements of Article 3 of [Regulation (EU) No 965/2012](http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?qid=1499960916767&uri=CELEX:02012R0965-20170322) in accordance with Article 1(7) of that Regulation.
