CS 22.1849 Endurance test ED Decision 2003/13/RM (a) The engine must be subjected to an endurance test (with a representative propeller) that includes a total of 50 hours of operation and consists of the cycles specified in [CS 22.1849(c)](#_DxCrossRefBm2056272398). (b) Additional endurance testing at particular rotational speed(s) may be required depending on the results of the tests prescribed in [CS 22.1843](#_DxCrossRefBm2056272400), to establish the ability of the engine to operate without fatigue failure. (c) Each cycle must be conducted as follows: <table border="1" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="568"><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p><b>Sequence </b></p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p><b>Duration (Minutes) </b></p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p><b>Operating Conditions </b></p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>1 </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>5 </p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p>Starting – Idle </p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>2 </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>5 </p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p>Take-off power </p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>3 </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>5 </p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p>Cooling run (Idle) </p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>4 </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>5 </p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p>Take-off power </p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>5 </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>5 </p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p>Cooling run (Idle) </p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>6 </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>5 </p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p>Take-off power </p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>7 </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>5 </p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p>Cooling run (Idle) </p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>8 </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>15 </p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p>75% of maximum continuous power </p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>9 </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>5 </p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p>Cooling run (Idle) </p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>10 </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>60 </p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p>Maximum continuous power </p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>11 </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>5 </p></td><td valign="top" width="313"><p>Cooling run and stop </p></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="104"><p>Total: </p></td><td valign="top" width="151"><p>120 </p></td></tr></table> (d) During or following the endurance test the fuel and oil consumption must be determined.
