MET.OR.265 Volcanic ash advisory centre responsibilities Regulation (EU) 2021/1338 In its area of responsibility, the VAAC shall: (a) when a volcano has erupted, or is expected to erupt, or volcanic ash is reported, issue advisory information regarding the extent and forecast movement of the volcanic ash cloud; (b) coordinate with selected volcano observatories to ensure that information on volcanic activity is received in an efficient and timely manner; (c) provide the advisory meteorological information referred to in point (a) at least every 6 hours until such time as the volcanic ash cloud is no longer identifiable from satellite data, no further meteorological reports of volcanic ash are received from the area and no further eruptions of the volcano are reported; and (d) maintain a 24-hour watch.
