##### GM1 Article 3(7)&(8) Definitions *ED Decision 2025/007/R* **AIRCRAFT GROUND DEāICING AND ANTIĀ ICING** ICAO DocĀ 9640 provides the following definitions for the terms āantiāicingā, ādeāicingā and ādeāicing/antiāicingā. (a) āAntiāicingā is a precautionary procedure by which clean aircraft surfaces are protected against the formation of ice and frost and the accumulation of snow and slush for a limited period. (b) āDeāicingā is the process that removes ice, snow, slush or frost from aircraft surfaces. (c) āDeāicing/antiāicingā is a procedure combining both the deāicing process and the antiāicing process and that can be performed in one or two steps. (1) āOneāstep deāicing/antiāicingā. Heated antiāicing fluid is used to deāice the aircraft and remains on the surfaces to which it is applied to provide antiāicing capability. (2) āTwoāstep deāicing/antiāicingā. This procedure contains two distinct steps: the first step, deāicing, is followed by the second step, antiāicing, as a separate fluid application.
