CS ADR-DSN.B.200 Stopways ED Decision 2022/006/R (a) The inclusion of detailed specifications for stopways below is not intended to imply that a stopway has to be provided. (b) Width of stopways: A stopway should have the same width as the runway with which it is associated. (c) Slopes on stopways: Slopes and changes in slope on a stopway, and the transition from a runway to a stopway, should comply with the specifications in [CS ADR-DSN.B.060](#_DxCrossRefBm151830599) to [CS ADR-DSN.B.080](#_DxCrossRefBm151830607) for the runway with which the stopway is associated except that: (1) the limitation in [CS ADR-DSN.B.060(c)](#_DxCrossRefBm151830599) of a 0.8 %slope for the first and last quarter of the length of a runway need not be applied to the stopway; and (2) at the junction of the stopway and runway and along the stopway the maximum rate of slope change may be 0.3 %per 30 m (minimum radius of curvature of 10 000 m) for a runway where the code number is 3 or 4. (d) Strength of stopways: A stopway should be prepared or constructed so as to be capable, in the event of an abandoned take-off, of supporting the aeroplane which the stopway is intended to serve without inducing structural damage to the aeroplane. (e) Surface of stopways: The surface of a paved stopway should be so constructed or resurfaced as to provide surface friction characteristics at or above those of the associated runway.
