GM1 CAT.IDE.A.185 Cockpit voice recorder ED Decision 2021/005/R TERMINOLOGY The terms used in CAT.IDE.A.185 should be understood as follows: (a) āAlternate power sourceā means a power source that is different from the source(s) that normally provides (provide) power to the cockpit voice recorder function. (b) āCockpit-mounted area microphone' means a microphone located in the flight crew compartment for the purpose of recording voice communications originating at the first and second pilot stations and voice communications of other crew members in the flight crew compartment when directed to those stations.
