GM1 to AMC9 ATS.TR.210(a)(3) Operation of air traffic control service ED Decision 2020/008/R VISUAL APPROACH Air traffic controllers should exercise caution in initiating a visual approach when there is a reason to believe that the flight crew concerned is not familiar with the aerodrome and its surrounding terrain. Air traffic controllers should also take into consideration the prevailing traffic and meteorological conditions when initiating visual approaches. The responsibility of the pilot to inform the air traffic control unit, if an ATC clearance is not satisfactory, is specified in point (b)(2) of SERA.8015 of Regulation (EU) 923/2012.
