CS 29.802 Emergency Flotation ED Decision 2018/007/R If operational rules allow, and only certification for emergency flotation equipment is requested by the applicant, the rotorcraft must be designed as follows; (a) The rotorcraft must be equipped with an approved emergency flotation system. (b) For a rotorcraft with a passenger seating capacity of 9 or less, the flotation units and their attachments to the rotorcraft must comply with [CS 29.563](#_DxCrossRefBm1513259452). For a rotorcraft with a passenger seating capacity of 10 or more, the rotorcraft must comply with [CS 29.563](#_DxCrossRefBm1513259452). (c) The rotorcraft must be shown to resist capsize in the sea conditions selected by the applicant. The probability of capsizing in a 5-minute exposure to the sea conditions must be demonstrated to be less than or equal to 10.0 % with a fully serviceable emergency flotation system, with 95 % confidence. No demonstration of capsize resistance is required for the case of the critical float compartment having failed. Allowances must be made for probable structural damage and leakage. (d) It must be shown that the rotorcraft will not sink following the functional loss of any single complete flotation unit. [Amdt No: 29/5]
