GM1 SAO.OP.135 Meteorological conditions ED Decision 2019/001/R SAFE LANDING OPTION (a) ‘Safe landing option’ refers to an aerodrome, operating site or outlanding site that can be reached and used safely in accordance with normal operating procedures and the applicable rules of the air. The safe landing option may be the point of departure. (b) In order to focus on a safe landing option, the pilot-in-command considers, among other things: (1) the suitability and operating requirements of the chosen landing site; (2) the technical suitability of the sailplane; and (3) his or her experience, including outlanding training, when applicable.
