5. Results

During the conduct of the tasks as referred in point ORA.FSTD.225(b), various discrepancies may necessitate resolution which fall into two distinct categories: severity A and severity B.

Severity A

Discrepancies falling into this category are one of the following:

(a) a simulation feature, system, subsystem, component or part that fails to comply with the qualification basis, which may affect the FCS or assigned FCS, the ESL or the FSTD qualification, and training, testing and checking and/or potentially lead to a negative transfer of training;

(b) Non-compliance with the qualification basis, such as objective test results being out of tolerance.

Severity B

Discrepancies categorised as severity B are simulation features, systems, subsystems, components, or parts that do not meet the requirements for classification of discrepancies severity A (e.g. temporarily inoperative or operating below their nominal level. However, the overall serviceability of the FSTD is demonstrated by the organisation).

Observation

Discrepancies where compliance with the required standard is not clearly proven and therefore require a subsequent assessment by the FSTD organisation. Following the outcome of each assessment, an ‘Observation’ may be promoted to discrepancy ‘Severity A or ‘Severity B’.
