AIRCRAFT CATEGORIES

(a) Aircraft categories should be based on the indicated airspeed at threshold (V_AT), which is equal to the stalling speed (V_SO) multiplied by 1.3 or where published 1-g (gravity) stall speed (V_S1g) multiplied by 1.23 in the landing configuration at the maximum certified landing mass. If both V_SO and V_S1g are available, the higher resulting V_AT should be used.

(b) The aircraft categories specified in Table 16 should be used.
